Paul wanted to commission an engagement ring for Julie. He had inherited his grandmother's engagement ring (shown above) but it wasn't Julie's style - it was too dainty for her taste and she prefers white metal. Paul wanted a more contemporary setting for the diamonds but was also keen to reflect the original design by offsetting the stones and incorporating some sort of twist.
